Mobile Broadband will soon be the key to the Future of Internet

Filed under: Web Portal @ 6:21 pm

Mobile broadband has been announced as the trendiest discovery in the internet world that is the turning point to the future of internet. Recently, high speed internet was available via a basic phone line, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line cable, which links to a PC terminal via an ADSL modem or router. Wireless high speed connection will be increasingly spread, whereby the Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line modem is connected to the terminal via a wireless intranet, and internet surfers are getting rid of ADSL cables. However mobile broad-band is taking things one step further and offering another innovative idea in the developing of internet connectivity; a broadband line pretty much in all the house without the use of a traditional landline cable.

The idea of browsing internet using a reliable broadband connection at home is an attractive concept to many internet users, like those people who more and more connect to internet with their PCs away from home. Business people for example who usually travel for work are the main obvious target for mobile high speed internet since they will surely enjoy the idea of not having to search at all for a working WI-FI hotspot for a proper internet connection. Mobile broad-band reaches much further than that, and because prices soon begin to decrease and connection lines increase we will soon see the majority of broad-band clientele applying for mobile high speed broadband.

Mobile high speed internet works by connecting a small portable modem to your personal computer, generally called a ‘dongle’, from where a PC is then able to browse the internet by using whichever mobile broad-band package the customers have registered for. Telecom companies are packaging mobile high speed internet connections and coverage of the networks, known as 3 G networks, which is as much as 90% of England.

Broad band speed is a serious issue with any broad band connection and mobile broad-band telecoms at the beginning had some problems to persuade clients that mobile internet connections could be as fast as conventional, landline-based high speed internet. Fast speed connections are improving, since Vodafone reporting mobile broad band lines as fast as 7.3mb, similar to some of the landline internet broadband. Most countries, including England, will soon finance with huge amount of money in fibre optic cable networks, in order improve broad-band speeds to up to 100 mb. Work without wires with mobile broadband from Compare Broadband UK.

In New Zealand, however, an important telecommunications supplier has claimed that mobile broad band networks are set to develop fast in the next future and they have said that mobile high speed connection will deliver speeds of up to 100mb by early 2011, which coincides with the year the UK’s fibre optic network is due to be finished. This could herald a major shift in industry thinking, with the creation of a reliable super fast mobile broadband connection network with obvious advantages over the cabling of thousands of miles of fibre optic cables, not least from a practical point of view.

Sales Management – What’s Involved? Part 1

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 2:20 am

What any individual Sales Manager actively does is conditioned by the size of their company, the products it sells and the way they are sold, the organisation of functions within it, and perhaps their own special ability. They may carry most or all of the responsibilities which would be those of a Marketing Manager, if this position does not exist within their company.

Essentially, however, the task of the Sales Manager is to produce revenue for their company through the operations of the sales staff for whom they are responsible. The size of this revenue, and the profit (however defined) which it should show, are usually predetermined in order to achieve the aims of company policy. The objectives which they set for the various activities which are involved in carrying out this task should therefore be derived from, and be compatible with, company objectives, such as return on capital employed, cash flow, market position, growth.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SALES MANAGER’S JOB

• Many of the factors which affect success are not within their control (such as competitors and government legislation)

• They are nevertheless required to forecast future sales and to plan their operation accordingly, using their judgement and experience.

• They must depend on other departments for the design, production, quality and delivery of products for which they obtain orders, just as

those departments must depend on them to get these orders.

• The sales staff that they rely on to produce the results they have planned for, are for most of the time working alone, not under their immediate control.

• They are engaged in a constant struggle to obtain increased sales

against competitors with the same aim.

Although the basic functions and skills of management, discussed later, apply to their job, it is clear that such qualities as creativeness, flexibility, tenacity, and ability to deal effectively with people, will be particularly important. At the same time the ability to analyse market situations and form sound judgements on them, is equally necessary but may not sit easily with the kind of qualities mentioned.

THE SELLING ROLE
Since, like other managers, the Sales Manager depends on those who work for them to produce the results by which they are judged, consideration of their job can usefully continue by examining the nature and characteristics of industrial selling and, hence, of the salesperson’s job.

Personal selling is only one of several possible ways of communicating with customers and potential customers but, particularly where industrial goods are concerned, is undoubtedly the most effective in terms of achieving the objective – influencing the decision to buy. It is also, even though selling costs may be a small percentage of revenue, expensive. Sales staff should therefore be treated as a scarce resource, to be used as effectively as possible.

Selling itself is a process of bringing persuasion to bear, to;

- Awaken awareness of a need or problem

- Establish that the need can be satisfied by a particular type of product

- Convince the prospective user that the salesperson’s own product can offer a superior satisfaction.

The actual selling job for a particular product or company may embrace all three of these stages, the last two, or the last only, depending on the situation requirements.

- An innovatory product, hitherto unknown

- A product for which there are alternatives

- An established market in which the user can choose from a number of makes.

For economy of effort the salesperson’s task (and perhaps the kind of person required) should be defined accordingly.

OTHER TASKS OF THE SALES STAFF
Although selling is the basic justification of the salesperson’s existence and The Sales Manager’s purpose in employing them, all sales staff have to spend part of their time doing other things (e.g. travelling and preparing reports). Sales staff are, however, often also required to:

- Provide technical information other than that strictly needed to make a sale

- Give some kind of after-sales service

- Conduct market research (going beyond the normal, essential supply of market intelligence about customers, competitors, etc)

- Check credit status of potential customers

It may or may not be that the salesperson is the best person to do such things as these. As, however, he is a scarce resource, expensive, and employed to obtain orders, the cost-effectiveness of using them for such purposes compared with other means should be examined – remembering also that there may be some loss of sales to take into account (the “opportunity cost”)

THE SALES MANAGER’S RESPONSIBILITY FOR SALES STAFF
Some characteristics common to most forms of selling are:

- Smaller sales forces in industrial selling than consumer goods selling, usually dealing with a very much smaller number of clients

- Responsibility and power to make decisions vested in the
individual salesperson

- The need often to deal with a number of people in the customer company in order to achieve buying decisions.

These characteristics must influence the nature of the Sales Manager’s responsibility for their sales staff and the forms it takes.

One effect may well be that a good deal of the market analysis and planning which is part of the Sales Manager’s responsibility, is delegated to sales staff who, to this extent, are the managers of their own territory. If this is so, the need for clear objectives and adequate overall control is stronger than if sales staff were more closely directed. This also emphasises the importance of good communication and information, flowing in both directions.

The Sales Manager’s general responsibilities for his sales staff may be summarised:

• Planning

He is given resources, human and financial, and has to plan to use
those in the most effective combination to achieve predetermined
results. They can do this only by knowing his staff and understanding
the nature and behaviour of costs.

• Organising

The way in which he develops his sales staff – whether on a general or territorial basis, or. specialising in types of product or by class of customer or end user – should derive from a study of the market, taking into account also the qualifications and the experience of the sales staff.

• Training

As products, markets and objectives tend to be continually developing
and changing, training also should be a continuous process. With small
sales forces, formal training presents difficulties, but the need to always
seek a higher standard of performance remains.

• Control

This involves setting targets and standards for measurement of performance, and taking appropriate action when they are not met.

• Motivation

Motivation implies two effects in the sales staff: the right attitude to their job and willingness to play their part to the best of their ability in achieving aims set by their manager. It results partly from training, partly from incentives (financial and other), and perhaps most of all from the leadership given by their manager. Regular appraisal of performance and attitudes by discussion with the sales force, and observation of their work, are important for this purpose.

RECRUITMENT OF SALES STAFF

Selecting a person who will become a successful member of the sales force for any particular company is very difficult, whether they are appointed from within the company or are recruited from outside. It is often made more difficult than it need be by the lack of an adequate specification of the job the sales person is to do and, derived from this, a specification of the kind of person who might be likely to succeed. Such specifications introduce some objectivity into the selection process and provide some measures of comparability between candidates.

The importance of the sales person to their company, and the considerable investment made in them, justify a systematic approach to the ways in which, as a candidate, they are assessed and decisions are made about them. The validity of assumptions made about them at the time of appointment should be checked against subsequent performance, and the reasons for mistakes investigated.

The subjective element in selection will never be eliminated, and in at least one respect it is a valid criterion. The person chosen must “fit in” to the team comprising the Sales Manager and their sales force. If they do not do so, no matter how suitable their qualifications and experience may be, friction is likely to ensue.

THE NATURE OF MANAGEMENT

A Sales Manager may or may not be an outstanding sales person. The important thing is that he should be a good manager. This is their individual and unique contribution to their company.

The essentials of management are:
Measurement or assessment
Planning, which includes organising
Direction and control

Plans, and the direction and control of activities to put the plans into effect, depend on the collection and analysis of information, from which decisions are made.

The initial plans (say for 12 months, on which a budget will be based) results from analysis of the market and environmental factors (such as economic conditions) and from the assessment of the resources available to the manager. Control requires an input of information about performance which has to be measured against the standards set in the plans. Where there are discrepancies the manager must decide what to do about them.

The two basic requirements for good management (apart from personal qualities which make the manager an acceptable leader) are therefore:

Adequate information
Decisions which take account of the relevant information

Adequate information about markets is hard to get, and the cost of obtaining it may outweigh the advantages of having it. The Sales Manager is therefore often in the position of having to make decisions on the basis of incomplete information or assumptions. They must then rely to some extent on past experience and their own judgement of the probability that this or that will happen. The important thing in these circumstances it to record (preferably in writing) the assumptions that have been made so that, if subsequently information becomes available which falsifies these assumptions, some assessment can be made of consequences for plans based on them.

2 Steps To Six Pack Abs

Filed under: Online Templates Resources @ 7:22 pm

First off, I want to mention that, for most people, getting six pack abs is not an easy task. It requires dedication, but it is possible! Below is a general 2-step guide that, if followed religiously for 3 months, will produce results.

Step 1: Nutrition

This is the single most important part of the puzzle, hands down. You can have the most impressive set of abs, but if they’re covered with a layer of fat, you won’t see them! Break up your day with 5 or 6 mini-meals because this jump starts your metabolism. And stop eating the food that is preventing results: white bread, loads of pasta, soda, candy, fast food, hydrogenated oils, sugars and fructose corn syrup.

Instead, replace them with foods that will help you reach your goal: oatmeal, olive oil, whole grain breads, fruits, vegetables, nuts, eggs, natural peanut butter, chicken, fish, protein and water. Be realistic- you’ll slip here and there, but make a conscious effort to radically improve your eating habits because getting a six pack will be impossible if you don’t.

Step 2: Exercise

You need to concern yourself with 3 different exercises: cardio, weightlifting and ab exercises. And aim to workout 3- 4 times a week.

The cardio you do can be anything: walking, running, biking, swimming….whichever cardio you don’t mind doing so that you’ll stick with it. Aim for 30-45 minutes, a minimum of 2 times a week.

Weightlifting is important because 3 pounds of added muscle burns as many calories as a 1 mile jog…and this is while you’re just sitting around! Aim for 30-45 minutes, a minimum of 2 times a week. If you’re confused as to what exercises to do for each body part, check out out the following website. It features professional bodybuilders, but the information is great and can be used by anyone.

http://www.bod ybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm

The last exercise you need to incorporate into your workout is ab exercises. Aim to work your abs a minimum of 3 times a week. There are a ton of different ab exercises you can do so try to find 3 or so that you enjoy doing so you can mix it up. A good database of different ab exercises is:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exername.php?MainMuscle=Ab dominals

Tip: mix up your workout routine every 2 weeks to keep your body guessing and changing. Add or take away different weight or ab exercises, or at the very least, vary the weight, reps or form of cardio you do.

Well, there you have it. Follow the above for 3 months religiously, and while results will vary from person to person, you will experience improvement.

It will take dedication on your part, but imagine the feeling you’ll get when you look in the mirror and like what you see.

Full Body Awareness

Filed under: Spiritual Resources @ 1:04 am

Now that you’re comfortable working with your breath it’s time to bring the rest of the body in. Continue breathing as I’ve outlined in my article on Breathing. Now in addition to feeling your breath flow and your stomach and ribs expand, I want you to feel the energy that flows into your body with each breath. For me it feels like a lightness, or a very light feeling. It may feel different for you so take some time here and just open up and feel the energy.

Now when you draw the energy in can you feel it pooling at your center of gravity just below your belly button? Now as you breathe just let that pool of energy expand throughout your body. Can you feel it flowing down through your legs and up your back and down your arms? Take some time here and practice this feeling that energy pool expand through your whole body. Later we’ll expand it out even further, but for now just let it flow.

This exercise should help you to feel rejuvenated and refreshed as you’re drawing energy from an infinite pool. Do this exercise whenever you’re depressed or down, and eventually as you progress you’ll learn to do it all the time. It’s a habit that you have to grow into.

Awareness and Intention

EVERYTHING is about ‘Awareness’ and ‘Intention’. Now that you’ve begun to build an awareness of the energy, called Chi, Ki or Prana in some circles, you’ll be able to do things with it and move it around in your (and other peoples) body.

We move energy with ‘Intention’, and this is a very important fact. EVERYTHING is energy! Our thoughts, our actions, our beliefs, everything around us and everything we see, feel, hear, think and do is energy. Intention is what we do with that energy.

We are all connected in a vast energy pool that encompasses everything that is, was and will be. It doesn’t matter whether a person believes in it or can feel it; they still have the ability to affect it. How many times have you seen a person with a negative attitude who continually draws more negative reactions to himself? He’s broadcasting his intentions through his attitudes with the result that he becomes a human ‘crap magnet’, drawing in all the negative feelings and emotions and experiences.

The other side of this is the continually positive person who always approaches everything from a positive attitude. This doesn’t mean that everything always goes the way she wants it, but if you’ll watch you’ll see that even the bad times provide fuel for her growth and she tries to take every ‘bad experience’ as a lesson to help improve herself.

Just as our thoughts can influence Chi subconsciously, so can they move it around in our body. Energy follows thought, so when you think about moving energy then it will actually go where you send it. The important thing here is to stay out of its way. Energy moves in a spiral and at its own speed, so don’t try to micro-manage it, just let it flow.

Now take some time and do the Full Body Awareness exercise again, and this time feel the energy go where you send it. You can also play with this a bit. Send it down to your feet, now bring it back to your center and this time just send it down to your left foot, now your right. Now send it up to your head, and down to your left elbow.

Now, the next time you’re stuck in traffic, or impatiently waiting in line at the Motor Vehicles Office, just relax and start to play with this. Isn’t this a neat toy?

Evaluating Wellness

Filed under: Online Templates Resources @ 9:40 am

Wellness of the body occurs when all the body processes, physical and mental are functioning as the peak levels. What does it take to achieve a complete body wellness? It requires more than simply taking a trip to the gym, or a walk in the park.

To evaluate our state of wellness, we must establish the goals we achieve through being well. We make our lives more enriched and easier to live. We are able to reap the benefits of well thought out plans of diet and exercise many years into our life, just because we have taken the time to remain well and fit.

Your immune system is a tale tell sign of your state of wellness and one of the real benefits of a healthy, well immune system is the prolonging of the onset of many age-related diseases. Conditions such as macular degeneration, Alzheimer’s, strokes, heart attacks, and overall feelings of good health depend upon a healthy immune system.

Our ability to continue in a normal routine many years past the accepted age of retirement is a goal achieved through maintaining a state of wellness. To many older people, their work becomes a genuine source of enjoyment. Work no longer appears as the thief of our free time, it becomes an old friend that we are accustomed to visiting with. It can become a reason to continue to get up and go about our day. Either way, our ability to continue participating is a direct benefit of our state of wellness and continued good health.

In evaluating our wellness goals, and state of being, the mental capacity for continued learning, teaching, and experiencing is a top priority. Mental sharpness comes from continued use of the mind to learn, communicate and think. The benefit of retaining those resources is felt even longer than the benefit of physical wellness. What about the physical benefits of continued wellness? The peace of mind that comes from knowing your body is in top shape, ready to deal whatever comes along, is a priceless possession. To be able to ascertain that you’ve spent your day wisely, and invested in yourself is a real accomplishment. The benefit seen from adding just 20 minutes of exercise to your daily routine are unbelievable. I can attest to the tremendous increase in energy, as a participant in walking for exercise. I lost a total of 74 lbs. in one year, by simply adding walking to may routine. I had been dieting for almost two months, with very little in the way of results. Walking was suggested by my physician, and I’ve never been so impressed. My energy levels were three times what they were prior to beginning the exercise program. Increased energy levels are one of the greatest benefits of a well and fit body. Continued wellness and evaluation of our level of wellness is a lifetime responsibility.

If we use our resources wisely and educate our selves about the things our body needs to maintain wellness, over the duration of our life, it isn’t a difficult thing to attain. The benefits of continued wellness are reaped will into our later years. Look at it as an investment you make, not of dollars and cents, but of time and education. The return on your investment is as yet unmatched by any prescription available.

The Most Important Discipline for Achieving Perfect Health

Filed under: Nutrition Info @ 1:41 am

The absolute best way to transition to raw foods is through fresh, raw juices. Some people may have trouble digesting the fiber in plant foods. If your previous diet was low in fiber, then suddenly increasing the fiber could be a big shock to your digestive system.

The whole point of juicing is to remove the fiber. The nutrients are immediately absorbed and assimilated into the body.

A common problem people may have is that they don’t have enough mineral salts in their system, which are essential for digesting plant fiber. Health and nutrition author Bernard Jensen found that the mineral most of his patients were low in is the sodium salts. We need both potassium salts and sodium salts for proper digestion of raw plant foods.

Potassium salts are easy to find in most plants. The sodium salts are a little harder to find, and many people are deficient in them. Celery is high in sodium electrolyte minerals, and this is why I recommend celery as the foundation of juices.

Get started with a discipline of drinking green juices. You could either make them yourself, or purchase them at your local juice bar.

My favorite green juice recipe is made daily at Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida, the worlds leading raw foods health retreat.

The Hippocrates green juice is made with one quarter celery, one quarter cucumber, and one half sunflower green sprouts.

This drink provides carbohydrates, electrolyte minerals, enzymes, chlorophyll, sodium salts, fats, and it contains more protein than most Americans receive in two days. You could add in a little carrot juice to sweeten it up, or substitute other leafy greens for the sunflower greens.

The next most important juice is wheatgrass. I can’t say enough good things about this beverage! It is the food highest in chlorophyll (70% chlorophyll), it contains essential amino acids, essential fats, and it may contain up to 92 minerals. It is a powerful detoxifier, it alkalinizes the body, it’s a blood and liver cleanser, and it’s great for healthy skin and hair.

Wheatgrass is simple and inexpensive to grow. It is available at your local juice bar, but It’s much cheaper to grow your own. The juice may cost $1 an ounce in the store, and it only costs about three cents an ounce when you grow your own.

The arithmetic screams loudly:

‘Grow your own!’

You only need between 2 to 4 ounces of wheatgrass juice per day. I recommend chewing the juice for two minutes to assist in digesting the complex carbohydrates.

Chewing the juice allows the nutrients to be absorbed under the tongue and helps strengthen the teeth. You could also chew the grass, but don’t swallow because grass fiber is indigestible.

Another juice I really love is watermelon juice. The secret with the watermelon is to juice the rind and seeds along with the fruit. The rind is where you’ll find most of the minerals and sodium.

The watermelon is an excellent food for cleaning out the kidneys. It is a diuretic and disinfectant. This is the perfect thirst quencher on a hot summer day!

Another powerful juice is the lemon ginger blast. This recipe is similar to the famous Master Cleanser lemonade drink made popular by Stanley Burroughs.

Lou Corona, a holistic health educator from California, created this recipe. He has been eating 100% vegetarian raw and living foods for over 30 years.

To make this, you juice a couple apples, a lemon, a half-inch to an inch of ginger root, and throw in a pinch of cayenne pepper powder. I use the hottest cayenne pepper I can find.

I enjoy the blast first thing in the morning, and always drink it on an empty stomach.

This drink is an excellent super tonic providing numerous health benefits. The lemon juice is one of the best foods for restoring alkalinity to the body. Our body’s pH must be slightly alkaline at 7.4, and lemon juice is one of the most alkaline foods available.

Cayenne pepper and ginger are the best foods for improving blood circulation, the digestive system, and they really get the energy moving through the body. They help remove any blockages or mucous that are preventing proper circulation. The apple sweetens up the drink and provides valuable vitamins and minerals.

Basically, you can and should juice most produce in the market.

One food group that is often overlooked is the root vegetable. The root vegetables make excellent juices and contain many unique vitamins and minerals. The root vegetables include potatoes, yams, beets, carrots, turnips, parsnips, burdock root, and celeriac (a.k.a. celery root) among others.

(Don’t forget to juice the beet greens!)

Some foods don’t juice well and should be avoided. For example, foods such as bananas, dates, and strawberries don’t contain much juice. I don’t recommend juicing rhubarb or buckwheat green sprouts, they contain some toxins that are concentrated in the juices.

One of the best books ever published on the subject of juices is “Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices” by Dr. Norman Walker.

All of Dr. Walker’s books are essential reading for health seekers. Dr. Walker was a raw foodist who lived to be either 114 or 118 years old in perfect health. He drank live fruit and vegetable juices on a daily basis.

Fresh living juice will provide you with great health benefits. They are without a doubt the best tool available for maintaining and restoring health.

Michael Snyder is an author and wellness consultant from Portland, Oregon. He publishes a weekly newsletter on topics related to the vegetarian raw and living foods diet, available at http://www.TheRawDiet.com

Purchase Hi Definition Televisions on the World Wide Web

Filed under: House Of Hardware @ 9:34 pm

With brand new hi-tech developments such as digital TV, Hi Definition Telly, Freesat and home cinema sound, if you’re existing telly device is older than five years old, then right now a great time to get a new television. Nevertheless, as technology changes roughly almost on a daily basis, purchasing a new telly machine might be incredibly tricky & perplexing.

This article strives to present an insight on all the up-to-the-minute technological advancements that will promise to take your television enjoyment to a breathtaking new intensity.

High-Def Telly: Maybe argued as one of the most key advancement to television since the creation of colour technology, Hi Def (HD) television brings detail, clarity & colour, with pictures frequently 4xs as crisp as various usual television machines. To view the advantages of Hi Definition television programmes you are required to have a HD Ready television. Sky and Freesat have already started to put on air high-def TV series meaning you can now benefit from a series of your favourite television programmes, movies and sporting occasions with remarkable life-like images.

Incorporated Digital Tuner: A telly with an incorporated digital tuner (also known as idTV) permits you to view all free to air digital television channels, for instance: E4, BBC3, Sky News & numerous more without the need for a separate set-top box.

Freesat: A new digital satellite television service available through a partnership between the BBC & ITV, providing you free High-Def programmes at no added charge. Freesat has no yearly contract, no joining fee, but instead just one solitary expense for the television, satellite dish & installation. Also because Freesat is transmitted via satellite, its available to more or less every house in the United Kingdom. Freesat TV is at this time only accessible through Panasonic tellies.

LCD or Plasma TVs: Though LCD & Plasma televisions function in extremely different ways, the benefits of both are very much alike. Even so, it is necessary to keep in mind that when deciding between a Plasma or LCD TV, it is in actuality simply a question of size. LCD is at its best performance up to and including thirty two inches, while Plasma tellies deliver optimum performance at thirty-seven inches, and above. Thus, if you are wanting to buy a smaller flat panel telly set, then (short for Liquid Crystal Display) offers the greater performance, yet on the other hand if you are wanting a bigger display size, Plasma is the ideal choice.

In evaluation its essential to bear in mind when getting the best television for you, to think about your available funds, your viewing distance, the style you want and if it’s to be an LCD or Plasma TV. John Lewis offers a collection of Flat Screen TVs from popular brands such as Sony and Panasonic.

The Power of Antioxidants Times Three

Filed under: Nutrition Info @ 1:46 am

In the third grade I was told I could write a paper on any topic for an English homework assignment. I chose the subject of scurvy as it affected sailors who were away at sea for long periods of time and the resulting discovery of Vitamin C as its cure. I remember the paper well for I was literally transcended from ignorance to a place of awe at the intricacies of the human body and its response to nutrients.

Today, antioxidants are the word on the street. They are used to boost energy (forget caffeine – this stuff rocks!) and these antioxidants fight infection, and address a whole range of health issues.

Before XanGo, Tahitian Noni, Fruta Vida, (containing, respectively, mangosteen, goji, and acai) and now Amigo Juice (a marriage of all three super foods), we had Vitamin C, E, and A. For many of us, it was all about drinking that cup of orange juice at breakfast or taking a vitamin supplement. But today, we are not talking about just a punch but a real blow to sickness and disease, taking the form of antioxidant rich health beverages that many consumers swear by in their quest for wellness.

Living in today’s very toxic world, antioxidants deserve a special place in the area of nutritional supplements and are certainly worth examining closer to see what they are all about and learn how we can implement them into our daily routine.

Quite simply put, at the molecular and cellular levels, antioxidants serve to deactivate certain particles called free radicals. In humans, free radicals usually come in the form of O2, the oxygen molecule. The oxygen molecule desires to be oxidized, and this oxidation process can sometimes be carcinogenic. Free radicals are the natural by-products of many processes within and among cells. They are also created by exposure to various environmental factors, tobacco smoke and radiation. Of course, this certainly includes air quality and all the junk we put into our bodies that our immune system is forced to combat.

If allowed to run amok, these free radicals can cause damage to cell walls, cell structures, and genetic material within the cell. They are the bully on the playground and need to be dealt a firm hand for the resulting damage can eventually lead to disease and ultimately death.

Antioxidants play a key role in cleaning up the destruction caused by these free radicals. They clean house before free radicals get a chance to harm the body. Researchers have determined that antioxidants are useful in the prevention of carcinogenic effects of oxidation.

To that end, a variety of health companies, most notably in the form of multi-level marketing, have cropped up offering antioxidant rich health drinks, as captured in the pericarp, hull, pulp, rind, basically the whole fruit, the kitchen and its sink, ground and mixed and served up in tasty 1 oz. servings. Not to mention the mangosteen fruit has introduced an entirely new classification of antioxidants, called Xanthones with professed health benefits too numerous to list, many years of research, and centuries of positive use.

These antioxidant rich drinks created three distinct camps. One decided the mangosteen is their drink of choice, goji has its determined followers, and there is also acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee). It became difficult to navigate through hype and look for substance. According to numerous reports by customers, they all have their benefits.

However, in March of this year, one product was introduced, integrating all three important fruits into one single product in a dried formula, omitting any need for pasteurization, cutting back on the cost of shipping, and providing the most bang for the buck. Most importantly, each of the three super foods had very distinct benefits. Now we have a marriage of all three fruits in one drink in Amigo Juice.

THE BIG THREE SUPER FOODS

The following is a look at the three fruits: acai, mangosteen, and goji.

ACAI:

The Acai berry, or Acai Fruit grows on majestic palm trees in the Amazon Rainforest and looks like a purple marble or grape. Acai contains high levels of Antioxidants, Omega Fatty Acids (healthy fats), Iron, Amino Acids, Fiber, and many other vitamins and minerals. The people living in the Amazon region in Northern Brazil, have consumed Acai for hundreds of years and its healing and sustaining powers are legendary.

Acai Berry is known to harness the following properties: Antioxidant, Antibacterial, Anti-inflammatory, Antimutagenic, Cardiovascular System. Acai berries contain very high amounts of essential fatty acids and omegas proven to lower LDL and maintain HDL cholesterol levels. They also contain a remarkable concentration of antioxidants to help combat premature aging.

Acai Berry is a dense source of a particular class of flavonoids called anthocyanins. The ORAC value of Acai Berry is higher than any other edible berry in the world. Acai Berry is also an excellent source of dietary fiber. Acai is extremely rich in organic vegetable protein which does not generate cholesterol during its digestion and is more easily processed and transported to your muscles than animal protein (such as what is found in milk or meat).

Besides its outstanding content of protein and unsaturated lipids, Acai is also rich in carbohydrates, providing your body with the necessary energy while working or practicing any kind of sport.

There is also an amazingly high concentration of antioxidants useful in combating premature aging. The proanthocyanidine contents in Acai Berries contain 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins (these are the purple colored antioxidants) of red wine per volume. Although the French consume a high fat diet, they have a low incidence of cardiovascular disease compared to the western countries. They contribute this factor to their consumption of red wine. Acai Berries can help promote a healthier cardiovascular system and digestive tract, because of its synergy of monounsaturated fats (these are the healthy fats), dietary fiber, and phytosterols.

They provide the body with an excellent source of fiber. Fiber promotes a healthy digestive system. Research studies suggest soluble fibers may help lower blood cholesterol. The insoluble fiber may help to reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancers. Essential amino acid complex along with trace minerals, which are vital for proper muscle contraction and regeneration.

MANGOSTEEN:

The mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a tropical evergreen tree, believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas. The tree grows from 7 to 25 meters tall. The edible fruit is deep reddish purple when ripe. In Asia, the mangosteen fruit is known as the “Queen of Fruits.” The outer shell of the fruit (pericarp) is rather hard, typically 4-6 cm in diameter, resembling a spherical, black cartoon bomb.

Health benefits:

Mangosteen has compounds with antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-tumor activity. Laboratory testing thus far indicates that extracts of mangosteen have activity against several cancer cell lines including breast, liver, and leukemia. Mangosteen also appears to have anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Most notably, the mangosteen provides powerful anti-inflammatory benefits which play an important role in numerous health conditions.

For hundreds of years, the people of Southeast Asia have used the mangosteen, especially the rind, to ward off and treat infections, reduce pain or control fever, and treat various other ailments.

Most of the studies with mangosteen have focused on the pericarp, or the dark, woody rind as opposed to the fruit inside the woody rind. The pericarp contains the active xanthone compounds. The fruit itself probably has some beneficial compounds but the compounds within the mangosteen fruit have not been studied as well as the mangosteen rind.

Several compounds in mangosteen appear to be active, particularly xanthones. Some of these xanthones include mangostin, mangostenol, mangostenone A, mangostenone B, trapezifolixanthone, tovophyllin B, alpha- and beta-mangostins, garcinone B, mangostinone, mangostanol, and the flavonoid epicatechin.

There are numerous studies available for review at www.pubmed.com. Just enter the word “mangosteen” to access a list.

GOJI

Goji berries have the highest concentration of beta-carotene among all foods on earth. Beta-carotene can be transformed into vitamin A under the influence of human liver enzymes. Therefore, vitamin A ultimately plays a major influence in Lycium’s actions. Lycium’s function on the eyes is related to this factor.

Lycium’s vitamin B1 and B2 contents are significant and the vitamin C content of freeze-dried Lycium has been measured to be 73 mg/100 grams. The fruit also contains vitamin C, beta-sitosterol (an anti-inflammatory agent), linoleic acid (a fatty acid), sesquiterpenoids (cyperone, solavetivone), tetraterpenoids (zeaxanthin, physalin), and betaine (0.1%).

Lycium contains 18 kinds of amino acids, of which 8 are indispensable amino acids for the human body (such as isoleucine and tryptophan). 50% of Lycium’s amino acids are free amino acid. Lycium contains numerous trace elements, of which the main ones are zinc, iron and copper. Mature fruits contain about 11 mg. of iron per 100 grams. Ning Xia Lycium contains 45% glucose, 7% fructose and 5.5% glucose.

HEALTH BENEFITS:

Goji Berries have been used in Tibet for at least 1,700 years. Tibetan medicine includes these berries in the treatment of kidney and liver problems. They are also used in Tibet to lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and cleanse the blood. Goji Berries have a long history of use in the treatment of eye problems, skin rashes, psoriasis, allergies, insomnia, chronic liver disease, diabetes and tuberculosis. Goji Berries are used by the people of Tibet to increase longevity and as a general health strengthening tonic.

Science has shown that this bright red berry not only contains extremely high levels of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, but also contains many unique phytochemicals, polysaccharides, and complex compounds that scientists are only beginning to understand.

Goji Berries contain the following complex compounds:

Betaine, which is used by the liver to produce choline, a compound that calms nervousness, enhances memory, promotes muscle growth, and protects against fatty liver disease.

Physalin, which is active against all major types of leukemia. It has also been used as a treatment for hepatitis B. Solavetivone, a powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial compound.

Beta-Sitoserol, an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been used to treat sexual impotence and prostate enlargement. It also lowers cholesterol.

Cyperone, a sesquiterpene that benefits the heart and blood pressure. It has also been used in the treatment of cervical cancer.

These compounds as found in the Goji Berry are used in the following manner: Betaine, which is used by the liver to produce choline, a compound that calms nervousness, enhances memory, promotes muscle growth, and protects against fatty liver disease. When navigating through the myriad of choices in determining which product to choose in today’s antioxidant saturated market, it is important to consider the following criteria: quality of product; quantity and source of ingredient; reputation of manufacturing company; and cost.

At one time, health products did a little bit of this and a little bit of that. As someone who used to pop about 30 vitamins each day to get what I felt my body needed for good health, it is exciting to see a number of products offering profound results. These results are allowing individuals to drop their pharmaceutical drug habit, or at the very least drop the dose, giving the body what it craves most, all things natural. We can do much to combat the ill effects of toxins and poor diet by the choices we make with regards to nutritional supplementation.

Paula Rothstein has worked in the field of nutritional supplementation for nearly 10 years with an emphasis on offering products which profoundly address chronic disease relating to toxic overload. For more information, please visit: www.medicinefreeliving.com

The Father Of Virtual Real Estate Investing Comments On His Industry

A relatively new concept in the online world is “Virtual Real Estate Investing“. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.

To separate fact from fiction, I asked Bryan Ellis for comments. He’s the man many consider to be the father of this new form of investing.

Ellis says he adopted the term “virtual real estate investing” sometime before Y2K after he realized that making money online is conceptually very similar to making money with physical real estate.

Bryan Ellis cites the similar strategies one can employe to make money from “virtual property” and “physical property” as a primary parallel of the two markets. He points out that control of a domain name or even a specific web page is much like controlling a real estate property ” those assets can be monetized in similar ways: By selling them for a profit, by leasing them, by offering advertising, etc.

The similarities really are obvious. For example, if you’re the owner of a desirable property, its desirability is (in a business context) largely due to its being in a location that is of interest to others. Likewise, if you own a desirable domain name, others will find value in it because it serves their purposes. In either case, you could sell or lease the asset and turn it into cash.

In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing, Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.
