Short Guide to Asthma Control

Filed under: Doing Business @ 2:09 am

Asthma control is the secret to living comfortably with the disease. If you understand how to identify early symptoms you can expect reliable asthma attack relief.

A tool you must have for asthma control is a “peak flow meter”.

It is a hand-held device that measures the rate at which you can discharge air from your lungs. This is called your peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR). When you measure your peak flow regularly you will be able to identify an oncoming asthma attack.

To properly use a peak flow meter, you first calculate your best peak flow of discharged air. You do this by taking a deep breath and blowing as hard as possible into the meter’s mouthpiece. Give yourself this test over a period of two week when you are breathing with no sign of asthma. Now you will have your personal best peak flow reading.

In the future, when you suspect an asthma attack may be imminent, you can quickly take a meter reading and see of you have a below average reading. If so, you can begin medication for asthma attack relief.

You should be ready to use your medicines when:

You have a peak flow reading less than 50% of your personal best
You feel tightness in your chest
Your experience prolonged coughing or wheezing
Your experience shortness of breath

You doctor can prescribe asthma medicines that prevent attacks and those that treat attacks. These are called “controller medicines” and “rescue medicines”. You doctor will explain when and when not to use each of those for asthma control

As you would expect, controller medicines work to reduce swelling in your airways. Medicines with such brand names as Azmacort, AeroBig, Flovent, Intal and Tilade fall into the controller category.

Singulair, Accolate and Zyflo are prescribed for some patients. They are designed to prevent asthma attacks

Controller medicines take hours or days to begin having an effect on your breathing passages and must be taken regularly even if you have no symptoms of an oncoming attack. You could consider controllers every day asthma medicine.

When you are experiencing an asthma attack you need the muscles surround your breathing passages to relax and allow air to pass. You need quick relief and that is exactly what is provided by the medicines in the rescue group.

Brethine, Proventil, Tornalate are examples of inhaled bronchodilators. They are rescue medicines and can be used on a regular basis for fast relief.

If these medicines fail to provide relief emergency room drug treatment of severe asthma attack may be necessary.

This has been a short guide to asthma control, one of the secrets of learning to live comfortably with asthma.

Offsite Data Backup Not Just for Fortune 500 Companies Anymore

Filed under: Doing Business @ 9:44 pm

In today’s high paced digital world there is a very high value placed on information. Not just the kind of information you read in the newspaper or your favorite trade journals, but the type of information that we generate on a day to day basis with our digital devices. There was a time when a concept like “offsite data backup” was relegated to the geeks in IT at Fortune 500 companies…

That time is gone.

With mission critical data stacking up in both our professional and private lives more and more every day ANYONE who uses a computer should think about the safety and security of that data. And it’s not just geeks and big companies generating large amounts of important information. The average computer user is doing more than just word processing nowadays. Email, spreadsheets, financial data, personal music collections, movies, and more are digitally encoded onto the hard drives of millions of regular computer users just like you every day. How many of them do you think have considered what it would be like to LOSE IT ALL?

But today even the casual computer user has the ability to ensure the security and safety of their critical data. Online backup (or remote backup) solutions are available and within the reach of even the novice computer user. Many offsite backup solutions are as easy to configure as a web browser or media player software and can be installed and set up in a matter of minutes. Better yet, these online backup solutions can be set up to function in a completely transparent manner (that is, once you install and configure the application you don’t have to touch it again, sometimes called “set and forget”). Backups can be scheduled to occur at intervals you choose or can be invoked manually before performing a risky computer operation such as updating your operating system or adding a new hardware device.

Nowadays we all have data that we want to preserve and ensure it’s usefulness to us, and if you are serious about protecting your data you should seriously consider an offline secure backup solution.

Your DATA is your LIFE. Protect it!

Wheatgrass For Anal Fissure – A Medical Breakthrough

Filed under: Doing Business @ 11:41 am

Wheatgrass is a highly effective remedy for anal fissure.(AF)

An anal fissure is a split in the wall of the outer end of the anal canal, most often at the posterior or back side of the anus.

The main symptoms of AF are:

Pain and/or
Bleeding after or during a bowel movement.
The pain can often be severe and debilitating,
but blood loss is usually minor.

AF can take days or weeks to heal
spontaneously, but some can persist for many
years causing the patient substantial distress
and discomfort.

I have been treating anal fissure successfully with a wheatgrass-based cream since 1995. My success rate is greater than 85 percent. One of my patients suffered for 21 years and was relieved of her symptoms just two weeks after commencing wheatgrass therapy. Many others have avoided expensive surgery because wheatgrass healed their fissure.

Compared with standard pharmaceuticals, wheatgrass can lead to rapid resolution of symptoms and in time usually heals the fissure as well. Added benefits include absence of side effects and low cost.

I use a wheatgrass extract in a cream base and get the patient to apply a small amount just inside the anal canal twice daily.

Why wheatgrass works so well is a mystery, but it clearly contains a biological active(s) with powerful healing properties. Also, it is not clearly understood how fissures develop in the first place. I have rather different views to the standard teaching of the cause and treatment of anal fissure.

View many testimonials illustrating wheatgrass healing of anal fissure at http://www.drwheatgrass.com.au/testimonials/af/index.php

Please note: If you notice blood loss when you go to the toilet, and the cause has not been diagnosed, you should see your doctor immediately.

A Guide to Traveling London through King’s Cross Station

Filed under: Doing Business @ 7:06 pm

For visiting London, proximity to King’s Cross is the perfect location. An intersection of six tube lines, including the Northern, Picadilly, and Circle Lines, to name a few, can get you virtually anywhere from King’s Cross. King’s Cross is also a train terminal, in the case that you are planning to visit the north of the UK. But let’s not get off track and get back to seeing London via King’s Cross. London, the cultural melting pot that it is, offers amazing and varied shops of anything you could desire. Located near the major shopping zones of London, both commercial and artisan, King’s Cross is a convenient place for a shopping tour in London. The city is also a magnet for great and creative minds, as is well known by all the thinkers, writers and artists who both came to and from London. The wide range of museums and galleries reflects this intellectual breeding ground, and again, King’s Cross is a skip, hop and a jump away from many of these world-class museums. Less conventional tours to start from King’s Cross could include a round of the city’s parks, exploring the wide web of the tube itself, or the nearby nightlife hotspots. So, whether it’s shopping, rich culture, or any fun explorations that you’re after, King’s Cross will guide you there quickly and efficiently.

For the shoppers! Have an early and hearty breakfast (you will need the energy) and put yourself on the Northern Line, heading for Camden Town, where you will find open air markets selling art, crafts, clothes, accessories and much more. It’s best to spend time here in the morning, as the area isn’t the safest at night. After you’ve stocked up on original craft gifts at the market, head back to your hotel, drop them off, and back on the tube! Via the Picadilly Line, head towards Covent Garden, a famous indoor market, and the surrounding area, full of boutiques, shops, and nice cafes. This picturesque market makes a nice lunch stop, with some cozy restaurants nearby. Picadilly Circus comes next: very commercialized, with many well-known brand stores. Picadilly is a fun place to return to at night, as the lights and pubs draw partiers to them like moths to the flame! Head on to Knightsbridge to see the world famous Harrod’s Department store. After this detour, it’s on to Oxford Circus to join the crowded throng admiring and buying the riches of Oxford Street, which is equivalent to New York’s Fifth Ave, a street of fancy department stores interspersed with chic shopping boutiques. If your spending needs are still not satiated, check out other markets, such as Portobello, or just by walking through London, you will find hidden gems of stores throughout the city. If, however, Oxford Street sums up the shopping day nicely for you, head back into the Oxford Circus tube, and the Victoria Line will conveniently take you right back to King’s Cross.

For the culture seeker, you will start your day heading in the opposite direction of the shopper. Head south on the Picadilly Line to Russell Square, and just a few blocks south of the shady square is the British Museum. After your explorations, you may also enjoy Covent Garden for its history and theater – check out the listings as they may draw you back in the evening. Nearby is Trafalgar Square, home of the National Gallery. From here, continue on to Green Park, and gasp at the size and beauty of Buckingham Palace. Changing of the Guard takes place nearby, so check the season’s schedule if you are interested. Slide down the Jubilee Line to Southwark, and enjoy the neighboring Tate Modern and Globe Theatre. Make your way back north of the river to Tower Hill, and explore London’s Tower. Take the Circle line back to King’s Cross to conclude the cultural loop.

The adventurer who wants to learn the city by randomly coming across the interesting things may enjoy traveling from park to park, always great for people watching and discovering the wide variety of London’s inhabitants. Regents, Hyde, Green, and St. James Parks are the main ones, each with distinctive personalities. The Tube itself is extremely interesting, and it’s worth reading the entertaining advertisements of the tube, listen to some talented and not-so-talented musicians, pick out who the tourists are and who the natives are… the tube can be really enjoyable during your voyage. Take advantage of being in this unique London sub world! King’s Cross is also nearby to Leicester Square and Picadilly, both popular night out areas. Or try traveling round Circle line and seeing how many pubs you can manage to stop at… after which, see if you manage to find your way back to King’s Cross on this concentric line!

King’s Cross, recently made famous through Harry Potter’s platform 9 , is more than a fictitious train platform. It’s a station that literally will get you anywhere in London (and beyond) very conveniently. If you’re visiting London to shop, to learn its culture, or just to explore it for face value, King’s Cross is the best starting and ending point. You will get to where you need to go quickly, and at the end of the long day, you won’t have to wait long to be back at your London home, sweet home.

This article was written by Pat Stevens with support from The Jesmond Dene Hotel, an inviting bed and breakfast conveniently located in close proximity to King’s Cross station. To learn more about how bed and breakfasts can add to your travel experience, please visit www.jesmonddenehotel.co.uk/

View From The Barber’s Chair

Filed under: Doing Business @ 7:37 pm

IF you want to get your hair cut in Villefranche du Perigord, a village in the heart of France, you have two choices.
On one side of the street is a hairdressers, all chrome and shiny mirrors, a little further down is a barbers of the cutthroat razor kind.

But it’s no Sweeny Todd style shop more a great place to enjoy a heavy dose of French life.

I’d already prepared myself for the visit, learning the French word for short, for a little shorter please and leave the sideburns as they are.

Well maybe not the last one.

I was also hoping that there would be a couple of pictures on the wall, like all good barbers, that I could at least point to.

But I then had a panic attack as I thought they all might be pictures from the 70’s and I’d have to point to something that the Hair Bear Bunch would be proud of.

As I walked into the shop there was an old chap sat in the chair with the barber tending to his hair and chatting away.

They both turned towards me and said ‘bonjour’.

I returned the welcome and as there was no one waiting just sat on one of the chairs and waited my turn.

Ten minutes later and I was sat under the quick scissors and smooth style of Daniel Galdrat, Villefranche du Perigord’s true barber.

“I’ve been a barber in the village for 43 years, I was born 50 meters away from the shop and I’ve lived here all my life,” Daniel said.

“After I left school I trained to be a barber at college and started working in the shop.”

Daniel is more of a sculptor than a hairdresser, he uses scissors and a comb like an artist uses a brush, with a delicate touch and dedication to detail.

He turns to his cutthroat razor to take the hair off the back of your neck and only uses the electric trimmers to tame your sideburns.

“It’s a shame that hairdressers today only use the trimmers to cut people’s hair, but that is what they are taught at college,” said Daniel.

“They have no knowledge of how to use the scissors and comb to cut hair, they might as well be shearing sheep.”

At the back of the shop is a collection of wooden mushrooms, walking sticks and canes – the other passion in Daniel’s life.

He enjoys going out into the Dordogne forests around the village with his dog and camera to take pictures of mushrooms that he uses as the basis for his woodturning.

And it is clear to see the skills he has developed as a barber come out in his hobby again the touch of a sculptor is evident.

“I enjoy the mountains,” Daniel said as he pointed to a large poster of the Alps on the wall.

“But I can’t get to see them as often as I would like

“I am hoping to retire soon, but there is no one to take over the running of the shop as yet.”

As my cut was coming to a finish another man dropped in to the shop, said bonjour, and shook both Daniel’s hand and mine.

He said the weather was about to turn and as I got up to pay, he took his place in the barber’s chair.

Go for new real estate with bkr loan, 251686 euro in one day

Filed under: Cash + Credit + More, Finance, The Loaning Way @ 8:23 am

And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown.

It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 6 percent. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 11 percent offered by competitors will change.

In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 4 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

Although most mortgage experts say that rates 4 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 3 percentage. Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 3 percent. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 10 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Different lenders charge different fees. See which lenders are charging fees 9 percent and for how much. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 7 percent.
